Oh, please. Like authors go and choose their publishers because they just have to have that DRM? Here's the reality: authors are with publishers, and said publishers either choose DRM or don't. (Most do, unfortunately.) The matter is out of the authors' hands, at least for books already under contract (which is millions of books).

For me, as a buyer, I haven't noticed prices being particularly higher as a result of the agency model. But I miss the sales, and I hate that fictionwise shrank so drastically as a bookstore because they lost the agency pubs.

I've probably bought fewer books, but it's mainly because I'd already bought more than I can read in the next two years.
