Do you need to restrict WiFi access all the time or just while in school. If it is only "in school" access that is an issue you shouldn't have a problem.

It should be rather straight forward for your IT dept. to arrange to block the Kindles. It could be done by denying access at the WiFi access point(s) to the Kindles by MAC number.
