In my cup: Rooibos vanilla, pot one. I had two pots of Rooibos Carmel Cream at home.

I went straight from high school to college and college to a PhD program. I started at my first non-academic job when I was 31. I remember being very lethargic and bummed for some unknown reason around July of that year. I was talking to a friend when I realized it was my first year without a long summer vacation.

Don't get me wrong, I worked during those vacations. I had jobs to save money for the school year when I was an undergrad and I taught summer classes when I was in grad school but I still had a certain level of freedom that a 9-5 job just does not provide. It took a while for me to adjust. The First Christmas was hard as well. I normally got home early enough to pick out the Christmas tree with my Dad. I have not been able to do that since I started a regular job.
