I feel that it sufficiently protects my Kindle. According to the Marware site, it is 2mm thick (but since it wraps around the Kindle, it adds a total thickness of 4mm). It's quite a bit more expensive than the item you linked, but it is quite nice, and is much cheaper than the average cover.

Yeah, that doesn't look too shappy, though it is expensive, as you pointed out. Still 2 mm of silicone probably doesn't offer the best protection from drops from 1+ meters. Still much better than no extra protection at all, obviously.
I wonder why they don't make some with 4+ mm (silicone/gel). Yes, it would be a bit more bulky, but it wouldn't be a problem, for me at least. And it would probably offer very good protection, at least if it landed on a corner. In case of a faceplant the materiale would have to be exstremely soft since it lands on such a large sufface area. That would cancel out much of the absorption capability of the skin.

Maybe they could put some bubbles on the font and back of my 4+ mm fantasy skin. Hehe.
