I'm sorry, but that just isn't true. When I charge my Kindle, I plug it into the USB port on my PC, then simply leave it sitting there. I don't eject it. But it still charges without any problem.

The point about using "Safely Remove Hardware" is to be able to read books etc on your Kindle while it's plugged in and continuing to charge the battery. It isn't that you have to eject it in order for it to start charging.
