Maximizing graphic

Pardon me if this has been answered elsewhere.

I am reading a book that has two maps at the beginning of the book. Online, I was able to find a fan-created color map with much more detail. I figured out how to add the graphic to the book (following the two original maps). However, when I view the book (I bookmarked the new map) in my iPad, the image appears to have shrunk. It is a large image. I'd like for it to extend to the full width of the screen. If it has to scroll of the bottom edge (onto another page, I presume), that's fine. My concern is that I'd like to be able to see as much details as possible.

I poked around in Sigil and tried making some changes to the page where the image appears. When I deleted some html code (CSS code?), the image changed size on the screen. However, when I did a Save As and then viewed the new ePub from Calibre's eBook viewer, the image was back to its small size.

Suggestions?

Thanks, in advance.
