US posters should remember that Amazon is not nearly as dominant outside of the US; neither is there free wi-fi on every corner and in some places, Amazon still surcharges for downloads.
As for what I might wish for ... free 3g with the ability to go to *any* website to download books, eg library, smashwords, author sites... in epub of course. :P

We'd snap it right up if Sony upgraded the Reader to not only have wifi, but set it up to puchase/receive books through websites.
We could go to Fictionwise, for example, would would detect the device being used to connect to their website as the reader.. easily log in to their system and download books from our library shelves, buy books etc.
Sony would of course need to choose between locking it to their own store only - to tie in some profits in an Amazon/Apple style, or going for broader appeal by allowing them to connect to any compatible store.
I personally don't see any need for 3G. Not in the UK or USA anyway. I don't know anyone in the UK without a wifi in their home (I'm sure there are some people). There's wifi hotspots all over the UK. I'm pretty sure that the USA is peppered with them as well.
All easily done, if they'd just add wifi. I know the Kindle is killing the Reader for sales, but it doesn't change the fact that the Reader is selling tons, there's plenty of room in the market for a worldwide Reader that works on wifi.
