(22) Truth: that's because you don't ask the question "what time is it" when you look at your watch. You almost always are asking something else. "Do I have time to do xxx?" or "Is it almost time to leave?" or something else. None of these require you to REMEMBER the time, so you just get the answer to the question your brain actually asked.
