I would be very surprised if they didn't already know precisely how much they are profitting from piracy. But to admit it publicly would mean that they would have trouble convincing governments to pass new laws that prop up their out-dated business model and save them the cost of implementing their own anti-piracy schemes. It's much better to just pretend they are losing $6billion per day and that is the reason their profits only grew by 25% in a global recession.
