I'm afraid that I'm not entirely with you.
If the place you've bought it from has no facility for entering a PID, how will Windows help you? Are they saying that you'll be able to register your PID via the Mobi Windows desktop reader? That seems a very odd way to do things - every other Mobi bookstore I know of allows you to register PIDs on their web site!
