Don Doherty in the Queensland deluge zone tells etymologist Michael Quinion's World Wide Words today: The front page of the Morning Bulletin of Rockhampton carried the headline "30,000 pigs swept away in flood". Next day, was a correction: "What Baralaba piggery-owner Sid Everingham actually said was '30 sows and pigs', not '30,000 pigs'." Takes an Aussie to raise a smile even at the worst of times, eh? Neil
