The robot with an exclamation point usually means it didn't find the firmware zip file or found more than one of them. There is a reset button hole near the power switch. You need a paperclip to push it. Then I would retry the Pandigital updater application and let it redownload the update. Make sure you don't have an external SD card installed. Then the upgrader will download the zip file directly to the internal microsd card. Afer that, slide and hold the power button for a couple of seconds and select power off. Then the slide the power on button while holding the vol+ button. Make sure you hold the vol+ button for at least 5 seconds or until you see the screen flash.

PS. If you are upgrading the internal card.... do it either before the flash and reboot with the old firmware to initialize it or after the flash is done and the new firmware will initialize it.
