A quick (but sad) update: For financial reasons, I had to cancel my pending order. I first ordered the Kindle on Dec. 27, and before the ESDs disappeared it was showing a target delivery date in late January/early February.

But something happened that made it clear to me that I can't really afford this thing right now, so I had to cancel. Amazon's delay was good for me in that sense; I just saved $400. But the delay also cost them a sale back in December when I *could* afford it.

I hope to be back on track and able to purchase one in just a month or two. Perhaps by then the price will have dropped, or a new revision will be on the way? I can dream.
