Okay, suppose that I need the following, then:

1) durability2) cost
3) wifi IS available at school (but I don't need for use of devices)4) battery life
5) my ability to share or assign reading
6) a really good dictionary (or good dictionaries) on board
7) the ability to bookmark and highlight text
8) I want kids to be able to LISTEN to their books

I really appreciate the advice and support. The Sony is more appealing right now because of the aluminum (more durable?) case. But I'm still searching.
