May I ask why the epub is so important to you?
If lending from public libraries is not a must or, if you don't have a huge collection of ePub books already, I think Kindle 3 is a nice choice. The Kindle' s browser is really good for being an eink device. You won't be able to see multimedia content but serves very well for basic browsing and basic Internet needs.
