I'm pretty much format agnostic, so I don't care about that, though as someone mentioned it would be nice if the mobi specification supported a few more formatting options.
I agree with the poster who stated that we should have a variety of "page counting" options. I personally prefer locations, but of course now that I've gotten used to that system and liking it, they've hidden it so I have to push a button. If they ever decide to get hide the status bar too, I'd like the option to show it. So yeah, options. Mine would show the status bar, % and location information if I had that option.
Custom screensavers, definitely. I removed all my hacks so I could update. I was worried that since it freezes any existing hacks, a future update could be problematic in ways we can't predict, so I figured it was best to remove them. I'm glad I did it then because they've started pushing the update way sooner than I expected them to. I'm okay for now, but I suspect I'll be tiring of the dead authors again fairly quickly. My message to Amazon was something along the lines of "If this can be implemented with hacks, then your development team can create the same functionality. If they can't, then maybe you should fire them and hire the devs who created the hacks." I was a little nicer than that, though.
Make the selections "wrap" the screen so if you go all the way down, the pointer starts over at the top. Never thought I'd use this as an example, but even the Literati does this.
Add a "maintenance mode" or something that checks the index folder for any index files that no longer have matching books.
As far as the design, I'm really happy with the way it looks and feels. I do wish the bezel was just a smidge different so it wouldn't collect dust/crumbs/whoknowswhat in the corners of the screen. My letters aren't wearing off, but the arrows on the 5-way are looking a little faded, probably because of how much I've played Triple Town. That doesn't really bother me because it's pretty obvious what the directions are without the arrows, but if my letters were wearing I'd be upset.
These are all minor issues to me, though. I'm very happy with my Kindle.
