I have done this before when I had a chapter or two left to read. I simply changed the date back a day or so under the settings and my library book unlocked.
But you need to make sure you don't plug the kobo in and sync it with the dates incorrect as apparently it can get a bit confused and create problems
So set the date back, finish your book, reset the date to the correct one - then sync.
