Chinese font can be self-installed onto the English version of iLiad. I did it myself after getting shell access setup. Chinese characters can then be displayed in contentlister.
What is extra to the Chinese version is that it supports Chinese font in text display, and also PDFs without embeded Chinese fonts. But they are not so much a big deal. I actually consider the Shell Acess a much more important feature for iLiad, which is still missing from its Chinese version.
BTW, if anyone is seeking Chinese PDF content for iLiad, I've built a Wiki site to allow on-the-fly generation of such PDFs with embeded fonts. It's at
http://www.inien.com. The site also supports PDFs for Sony reader and a few other e-book devices.
