Got my Oberon cover today
You'd be hard pressed to believe the cover for the 600 wasn't made for the 650. Mine is great.
I spent an hour or so 'darkening' up the Saddle to a nicer 'medium' brown. (IMO)
I was certain a cover in Chocolate would be too dark for my liking, so I went with Saddle knowing it would better lend itself to darkening it up a bit with the plan to match a leather daytimer I've owned for about 20 years.
By comparison, I'd say that it now looks about the same 'tone' as the Wine coloured covers on Oberon's website, although clearly brown. (lighter than the chocolate covers)
I regret now that I didn't take a 'before' picture, but I really like how it came out. When I was done I pulled out the daytimer and the two were almost identical. (I didn't reference the daytimer as a guide when I went to work on the saddle) I quit when I thought I had it about right.
On the whole, the Oberon cover is a lot more supple than I was expecting it to be. No break-in required really.
I have no doubt the protection offered by the Oberon is about as good as it gets.
