But yes, Amazon made a choice to deliberately restrict Kindles to read DRMed ebooks only from the Kindle store, and not from Mobipocket ebook stores.
While there were work-arounds early on, most Mobipocket ebook stores (the few that are left) won't now accept the PID generated from the Kindle serial number.
The only solution is to just strip the DRM, although this may or may not be legal, depending on how your country's laws are written and interpreted.
