You can't use .mobi files with drm on Kindle? What if I renamed an .azw file with drm to .mobi, you're saying then it won't work?

...but I can (and do) use .azw files without DRM on my Kindle. If AZW and MOBI are the same, then what difference does it make which extension is used whether drm is on the file or not?
