I don't know. All I'm saying is that if you reupload a book via Calibre after having changed something in it and the first version is still there or something, I would hazard a bet that Calibre, for some reason, copied a new file on to the Kindle rather than overwriting the old one.

In a similar vein, I once decided to be picky about the filename and folder structure that Calibre uses to upload books to my Kindle, so I told it to use "{tag}/{series}/{title}". Now, I have the book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (first book) and The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide (5 books), but I renamed the Ultimate book to read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as well since after all it is the name of the actual series.

To my amusement and slight annoyance I found that, with my current naming scheme, if I upload the first HHGG book, it overwrote the Ultimate book on my Kindle since Calibre named them the same when uploading them. If I changed it to {tag}/{series}/{title}_{id} or {tag}/{series}/{title}_{series_index} (and ensured that the series index number for Ultimate was 0, while the first book's was 1) it wouldn't do that anymore.

...not that I need both books on my Kindle at the same time, but I found it interesting that as Calibre has a column in the Library view which lists which books are On Device, if I uploaded one book, the check mark for the other book disappeared.
