Mate, I think you're spot on! I had an older DXi that I sold and then bought a new DXG. Just the new pearl screen (and the price reduction) was good value imho.

If Amazon had of been smarter, they would have done the same with the K2. That is, just change it to a pearl screen with graphite case and called it a K2G. They could have probably also knocked the price of these down to, or below, current K3 prices. They maybe even could have even done a cheaper Wifi-only version. I'm sure they would have sold a tonne of either of these.

Then they would have given themselves time to to produce a proper set of upgraded versions for both (K3 and K3DX)

In my opinion Amazon has confused the heck out of consumers as to what is new-generation vs latest generation and what upgrades to expect. If they manage to give any K3 updates to the DXG's only, and not the K2 or Dx then they will be seen as discriminating between essentially the same platforms.

It's very likely that these K3 upgrades are not possible on these older units without a big decrease in performance anyway. Just the pearl screen with a 2.5.7 upgrade would have probably made everyone happy.

So, right now I think that Amazon is screwed. Probably the best thing that they can do now is to introduce a proper new generation DX3G with all the current K3 bells and whistles (and maybe more). They should then offer all current DXG owners a VERY generous trade-in for new (like $0-50).

Should be interesting to see how this all works out!

Cheers,
Tom
