Interesting topic. I pointed out in another thread that sony should add a THIRD option to the current Touch Screen Page Turn setup menu.

Currently you can pick options to set the reader for "Left to Right" -or- "Right to Left".

My proposal would be to add a third options -> "Disable Touch Screen Page Turns"

When the touch screen is disabled for page turns, you could still use the page turn buttons, just like a Kindle or Kobo reader.

This option would NOT effect your use of the Touch Screen for other functions, only for page turns, highlighting, and bookmarks. So the touch screen would automatically be re-activated when you access the HOME screen, or any pop-up menus after hitting the Options, or the Font and Zoom keys.

To make it as quick and easy as possible there could be several ways to quickly Enable/Disable the use of the Touch Screen for Page Turns -

1. Change the setting manually using the 'Settings' screen as already described.

2. Use a menu selection that would be added to the context sensitive menu that pops up when you use the 'Option' key in reading mode.

3. Use a quick hot-key combination triggered by holding BOTH the < and > keys at the same time for 3 seconds. This would trigger a pop-up telling you that the mode has toggled from "Touch Screen Page Turns Enabled" to "Touch Screen Page Turns Disabled". Hit BOTH the < and > keys again for three seconds and it toggles back with the opposite message.

Being able to switch from the default Sony style Touch Screen Page Turns, to a Button-Only Page Turn mode like the Kindle would completely eliminate any stray page turn problems related to the touch screen.

I could also save battery life (assuming the touch screen can actually be powered down when not being used).
