"
OK, I Ate Some; But Never Again"
But sometimes we do.
I say that I like Chinese food, and I do. The western/American kind that is. My one experience with true Chinese food (remember the chicken feet reference?) has me thinking back to "our" (current western culture) food habits.
Hundreds, and thousands, of years ago a small farm or village couldn't afford to slaughter a cow just for a steak. Without refrigeration other means of preservation had to be devised - "prosciutto crudo" (dried uncooked ham & prosciutto cotto), Nordic Lutefisk (dried and salted cod), etc. And
ALL of the animal was used.
We of modern western culture just want the steak and to heck with the rest.
But we do eat the "leftovers" and just don't know it. Everybody has heard the suggestion "Don't ask what's in the sausage, just eat it". And does anyone think that chicken soup is made with just the white meat?
The next time you see a food product listing "Made with 100% pure beef/chicken" don't ask/don't tell.
