the internal card is the same as the external card. swapping it out does not allow you to add more applications.
Personally, I do not see the point of swapping out the internal 2Gb card for a larger one. In fact, I swapped mine out for a smaller 1GB card.
To add more apps, you need to go to the a2sd route.
If you are not going to go the a2sd route, format your internal card FAT32.
