The K3 is lighter even in a case. At least, that is what I have read from people who own both.

There are many folks on this board who have both a Sony and a Kindle, or a Nook and a Kindle, there are a large number of permutations...

If you enjoy the Sony but are attracted to a Kindle and you can afford both it is not a bad situation to be in. You would have easier access to Amazons store and the library.
