You mention holding the power switch for 15 seconds. Is it actually rebooting - the Kindle Tree picture and a slider/progress bar showing? I've read that 30-40 seconds is necessary for a reboot as opposed to just turning it off.

Also can be done from the menu. Home, Menu, Settings, Menu again, scroll down to RESTART and select.

I apologize if this is what you've already done.
