I love the idea of fostering a love for people of all ages, but I'm always weary when people start deciding WHAT books other people should read. There's almost always something political going on there. I make book suggestions to people all the time, sure, but I'm making suggestions to people who I know very well and I am making suggestions based on their tastes. I'm a little concerned with a committee compiling a list of 25 books that they think are 'good'.

That's not to say the books on that list AREN'T good. And it's not to say that the committee's intentions were politically inclined. I'm just saying there's a fair amount of room for that to happen.
