I don't think it's bizarre. There are tons of free Bibles. I actually think the ones done by Mobileread members and offered here are much better done than the gutenberg. I can't speak about other paid editions but I think that my versions offer better formatting and navigation than the free ones. So, everyone is free to choose. I even raised this issue on my blog to see what others think. You may read it here.
