Hello, my name is Mike and I moved with my wife to the Haute Vienne, a rural region of France for our retirement. No regrets, after living all our lives in Manchester UK we needed to get away to someplace quiet and safe. The large village we live in has had one burglary in ten years and that was by a local locksmith who was drunk at the time. The children here are very civil and respectful. Once you are known, it is customary to greet with a kiss on both cheeks. So all in all quite Idyllic.
However, there are no sources of books in English, short of buying on line and I do not yet read French.
