Yep, presbyopia. Finally got me in my early 50s and the reason I'm now wearing glasses. Reading wasn't really a problem, nor was distance vision -- but switching between the two was increasingly problematic. I often read while having a ballgame on TV, and had problems focusing when looking up from my (e)book to check a score or ticker.
