Where's my book??????

I plugged my Kobo to my PC, I have both Calibre and Adobe Digital Editions up, I purchased a book from Kobo (the website) and it shows on my KOBO Library shelf. It's not on my eReader.... I o b v i o u s l y

1) don't know how to buy a book and have it "placed" on my eReader
2) cannot "add book" to Calibre
3) FEAR the day I want to "borrow" a book from the library using ADE.

If this is supposed to be the most user friendly eReader out there, I'm really in trouble. I realize I am technically challenged to say the least, but WHY in heaven's name do I need so many applications (Calibre, ADE, the Store) to read a book on my eReader?
I have gone through calibre's tutorial, and the KOBO User Guide, but I need to know how to use this thing... Help please
