Nope, butter is yellow. When I was growing up in Wisconsin (the dairy state) it was illegal to sell margarine. Import controls for the dairy farmers, don’t you know!
At any rate, I never saw margarine until I was nine, and it had a little bubble of dye in it that you had to break and kneed the dye through the bag of margarine to make it look like butter.
