Yes mine is rooted, that was the whole point to get the improvements over the standard B&N file system. And yes, as I said above, I get everything I added to the comments section. And yes, even though I didn't need to do so using the newer method, from my understanding, you can softroot it.

I would place a new post with your serial number and get some feedback from someone who had gone through the process with a device that came new with the 1.5 firmware. My assumption is that you will have to use the new method which is way more complex.
