We love our pets

This morning it was springtime in Florida. A gentle breeze, sun shining, and the temperatures were headed to the mid 70s, so we had the doors and windows open. I was heading backing into the kitchen to put my coffee cup away and planning on going outdoors. But I saw our youngest cat in the middle of the floor, on top of a squirrel, which was belly up. Four legs and a tail, and the cat holding it firmly to the floor.

"Hey honey, could you help me out in the kitchen?"

My wife came in, and as I gently moved the cat off the squirrel she prepared to scoop it up. Moving the cat revealed the squirrel had no head. And that there was a blood trail. And I'd stepped in it.

Tomorrow is not supposed to be quite so warm, maybe he'll stay indoors.
