With all the money I have saved by not purchasing extended warranties on all the electronics gear I have bought over the years, I can easily afford to replace the occasional unit that may fail during an extended warranty period and still be way ahead financially.
Extended warranties are pushed so much by retailers because they are a huge money maker for the seller.
