If you just want to check your balance total and not the individual amounts, in your Account section, instead of clicking on Check Balance, click on Manage Gift Cards for Ebooks. This page will show a list of your gift card (s) and their balances listed without having to put in your gift card and pin numbers.
Also, btw, if anyone has more than 1 gift card and is wondering about how charges are applied in the case where 1 has an expiration date, the charges are applied to the most recently added card first.
