A bridge that connects Staten Island and Brooklyn in New York City which he named after himself?
I grew up in NYC, so we learned a lot about the various explorers along the eastern seaboard. Verrazano, Hudson, Cabbot, etc.
Verrazano did most of his mistake making south of there, along North Carolina and the Outer Bank islands south of Chesapeake Bay. I know that he never actually found the Cheseapeake Bay itself though he thought that Pamlico Sound (the waters on the other side of the Outer Banks islands) was the beginning of the Pacific.
