I've just noticed that a book I bought in 2008 (and haven't read yet!) is no longer available from the place I bought it, as the shop has closed (the HarperCollins ebook store).

If I hadn't been able to remove the DRM, I'd now be at the mercy of Adobe's next DRM server upgrade. (They have previously turned off older DRM servers, leaving DRMed content inaccessible for anyone who didn't spot the notice and migrate their DRMed content manually to use the new server in a nine-month window of opportunity.)
