Thanks for the suggestions and I'll look into the links. I found a workaround:
1) Load the cyrillic Doc into a newer version of Word (2010 is ok) and save as a Docx
2) Download Epubgen. Drag the Docx to the Epubgen window and it will convert to EPUB
3) Drag the EPUB to the desktop
4) Drag the desktop EPUB icon to Calibre (can't seem to do this in one step)
5) Send to the Nook. Works perfectly.
