Thanx for the help, but it turns out I shouldn't have bothered you. After several failed attempts to download the binary, I finally realized that it was a problem with my internet connection after all. I switched to using my phone's connection, and everything started working fine.
I still don't understand what the problem is, but it obviously isn't calibre's fault.
