My 650 charges fine with a USB charger, but ONLY one which meets the new universal micro-usb charger spec.

Basically this spec shorts the two usb DATA leads togeather so that the device will know that it is connected to a charger and not a computer.

Some older USB chargers use an older Apple Spec which has a pair of resistors on each data lead forming a voltage devider to set spiciific voltages which identify the charger. Sadly this older type charger WILL NOT WORK WITH THE SONY'S.

Not sure if this applies to the 600, as some of the older Sony units used a dedicated coaxial plug wall charger, not USB.

If your 600 doesn't have a coaxial power jack, and DOES charge properly from your PC, then you are probably getting nailed by the same issue.

I bought an accessory kit from 'Gizmo Dorks' on Amazon which included both a DC car-charger and an AC wall-charger, plus a spare micro-usb cable, and nice neoprene zipper pouch, all for less than 15 dollars.

The also sell just the USB chargers for only a few dollars each if you don't need the other items.

So, if you are having this problem, best not to let it bother you, just buy and inexpensive charger that WILL WORK.
