I doubt B&N or any other company can stop someone to hack a device. As long as we have people outside interested and Nook Color keep running on top of Linux, I would say is doable.

But maybe is time for Nook Color fans go out and buy a Galaxy Tab or a Dell streak. They won't have to worry about keep hacking the device for ever and will be able to run Nook for Android and Kindle on same device.
