otterbox for k3
Last week I received the new Otterbox for K3 and wanted to give a quick description.
The Otterbox cover for K3 works like all of the other Commuter cases made by Otterbox for other devices. It's 3 layers including: screen cover, silicone wrap, and a hard plastic shell.
The hard plastic shell covers only the sides of the device, the top and bottom are not covered.
The silicone wrap cover everything except the screen and the on / off slider ... even the buttons on the front. When I first added the silicone cover I wasn't impressed with how the D-pad worked under the cover. But the more I used it the better it seemed to seat onto the buttons. After just a few minutes the D-pad and all of the notes buttons worked great.
The page forward and page back buttons were a bit less responsive but after some use I got used to how to press them to get them to respond. I think those could probably fit better.
The screen cover was the most disappointing feature of the 3 layers. While I didn't put this on the Kindle directly, I did lay it over the screen to see how it would work before I actually applied it to the screen. The screen protector was so reflective I could see myself in it. I don't want to see my ugly mug while reading an ebook. There reflective surface also added a lot of glare to the screen, distracting from the experience of the e-ink pearl screen.
If the screen protector would have been anti-glare I would have kept the cover, but in the end I sent it back and decided to try something else.
