Thanks for posting that, Shel. I was feeling sooooooo alone!

I have a personal symbol. A totem, if you will. 30 years ago I was walking around downtown Bangkok, looking for a tattoo parlor to get this totem tattooed on the back of my shoulder blade. Just a little one... perhaps a 2" circle size. Just so it would always be with me. I really didn't like the idea of the tattoo, but I did want this with me always.

Then I passed a jewelery shop... and got the idea... How about this symbol carved in white gold, about 1" size, on a strong stainless steel chain? I went into the shop, dickered with the owner for a good price, and two days later he delivered it to my hotel.

With the exception of a few minutes for chest x-rays, it's been around my neck every day since. And no pain.
