Open is good for all. But in a commercial situation, reciprocity it required.

No one is pointing it out because it is not true. The Sony reader supports Adobe DRM. That DRM is open to anyone willing to pay the licensing. Apple books use Fairplay DRM. Apple only allows Fairplay on Apple devices. It was Apple's decision.

The same situation exists with Amazon. Amazon will not allow Mobi DRM on reader devices with Adobe DRM (or any other). And Amazon will not allow any device to support Kindle IDs.

Contrary to what that article says, there are many people that attack Amazon as well for their lock-in.
