Generally speaking ken, when they lock up you can't get to anything.
They start to load, show the first jetbook logo, and get no further no matter what you do.
As to the OP, contact Ectaco, I am sure they will make it right.
They gave me no issues at all dealing with mine. Nice to see a company stand behind their product.
