Baen isn't selling one. NAEB is! (We tried and tried to get a name that we could all agree on which created the acronym 'NEAB', but we couldn't. So we went with NAEB which is an acronym of (N)ot (A)nother (E)-(B)ook... Yeah, it *is* another ebook reader, but hey, it fit the acronym!)
And we were, but we couldn't get the deal put together because PVI just wasn't interested in any deal which didn't involve either massive numbers of displays sold - pre-paid - or per-unit costs which would have made making our own run to a 'discount' price of around $550-$600 each. And that would have just gotten us to the point of offering the hardware. We'd still have had to complete development of the application software.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be able to have *NAEB* (Not Baen.

) create it's own eInk-based ebook reader. Perhaps one with a full-color display, foldable/rollable out to 8"-9", but don't expect such any time soon.
