If you go to Preferences - Miscellaneous - Open calibre configuration directory.

Once the directory is opened quit calibre. This folder contains all of your settings. If you want to start fresh simply delete this directory. Any plugins or settings you may have entered will be wiped out. The next time you run calibre this directory will be rebuilt fresh.

If you want to start out totally fresh also uninstall calibre and install the latest version via the binary install method here.

How did you originally install 0.7.42?
